As you celebrate National Margarita Day this year, you’re surely going to have no lack of traditional margarita recipes. And while we’re huge fans of the original, we always like to look for ways to improve on it. We think the Mesilla Valley Cucumber Jalapeno Margarita does just that!

I like to say that this margarita is the "taste of the valley", and it's true! In La Posta the bartenders use only fresh ingredients that are as local as possible. The jalapenos, for example, come from the valley, so do the pecans and the honey that rim the glass. Even the green chile salt is made locally! So when you sip this in the La Posta Cantina, you are sipping what Mesilla truly has to offer.

So, without further delay, here is the famous recipe. If you'd like to make a pitcher to serve to your friends and family, simply multiply the ingredients by 4 or six.

1 ½ oz.      Sauza Blue 100% Agave Silver Tequila

2                 Cucumber wheels

1                  Jalapeno wheel

1 oz.           Fresh lime juice

1 ¼ oz.      Agave nectar

Rim the glass(es) with local honey, chopped pecans, and green chile salt, set aside. In a mixing glass, muddle the cucumber, Jalapeno, fresh lime juice and agave nectar. Add Sauza Blue 100% Agave Silver Tequila and ice. Shake vigorously and strain into an ice filled chile stem margarita glass rimmed with local honey, chopped pecans, and green chile salt.  Garnish with cucumber & jalapeno wheel pick dropped in the glass.
